Dr Efird has been hitting the books over the last few months. He recently completed workshops entitled Facially Generated Treatment Planning and Occlusion in Clinical Practice. The training took place at the renowned Spear Education campus in Scottsdale, AZ.
Our practice is seeing an increase of patients seeking solutions for complex dental issues. Many denture wearers are opting for permanent implant replacement. This makes eating with uncomfortable removable teeth a thing of the past. We are also seeing a large number of patients with worn, chipped and broken teeth who desire to return to the attractive, functional and healthy teeth they had in younger years.
These cases can require complex design and treatment. Dr Efird takes pride in staying current on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide our patients the best dentistry available.
We have completed some amazing cases this year!

After 16 years of a wonderful career and relationship with our practice, Jessica has resigned to accept a job with the State of North Carolina. We will miss her, but her new position sounds like a great opportunity to make a contribution to dentistry on a much broader scale. As I understand it, Jessica will be developing a program for delivering dental hygiene care for patients with complex medical disorders associated with Alzheimer and neurodevelopmental disorders. Jessica will be teaching the staff at skilled care facilities on how to implement the program and provide the care. I’m sure she will do great things in this new career path. We welcome our new hygienist, Amy, who is already settling right into her new position. Amy came to us with the most outstanding references from former dental employers I have ever received and we feel very fortunate to have her join our practice. Everyone on the team is very impressed with her and patients have been very pleased with her care. Amy is warm and friendly with an ever present smile.
Attached is a farewell letter from Jessica. I know Jessica will be missed and that she will miss all of the patients she so skillfully cared for over the years.
As we welcome Amy, we wish Jessica happiness and success with her new position.

Attention to all parents, grandparents, and child caregivers:
The FDA has released important information regarding homeopathic teething tablets. Recent reports state a toxic substance known as, belladonna, has been found in teething tablets and teething gels. Belladonna, which is an extract of the deadly nightshade plant, can cause seizures, muscle weakness, and exhaustion. The FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research recommend that parents and caregivers not give these teething tablets to children and to seek advice first from their healthcare providers. Our office suggest other alternatives, such as teething rings and toys to comfort a teething child.
The FDA also encourages if you have experienced any adverse effects or reactions while using these tablets and gels to please report on the FDA website.
As a front office administrator here at Carolina Mountain Dental, and currently an expecting mother myself I urge you to pass this information on to anyone that may have children entering the teething stages. If you have any questions or concerns about dental care please feel free to call us.
